Farrier Day and “In the News”

The Donkey Sanctuary held a farrier day on the 1st of August, the day traditionally celebrated as the Horse’s Birthday.  Farriers Shannon, Jim and Emerson spent the day trimming and caring for our donkey’s hooves.   The day was a huge success with 6 volunteers also spending the day assisting the farriers and tending to the donkeys.

In the News

The Sanctuary has been in the news lately, when a reporter from the Port Stephens’ Examiner visited.  The newspaper showcased the wonderful work done at the donkey hospital and also highlighted the enormous challenges we face to keep the Good Samaritan Donkey Sanctuary operating.  Read all about it here A home where the donkeys roam

Another article focused on the fundraising done by the clients of Lifestyle Solutions, a disability support organisation.  Aware of the ongoing problems faced by the Sanctuary following the storms of 2015, the group raised money for the donkeys and visited the farm to personally donate the money they raised.
