Ella’s Work Placement Week at the Sanctuary

I absolutely loved working out at the sanctuary with all the donkeys. It was an amazing experience and I enjoyed being able to come out and work alongside them. It’s an experience I would definitely have again. All the people I worked with made me feel welcome and I learnt the different ways I could get the job done by working with each of them, and every day I came home with a great feeling of satisfaction knowing that I am a part of helping the donkeys have a better life out there at sanctuary.

Working with the donkeys really gave me an insight into their day-to-day lives out there and I got to see a range of personalities shine through as well as learn a lot about them. It’s amazing to see the amount of donkeys that have been given a second chance at life, and despite the amount of poo I picked up throughout the week, it was definitely worth it to see the donkeys live happily out there in the great hands of the sanctuary.

I did every job assigned without hesitation from moving hay, feeding the donkeys and washing dishes, to  mucking out.

I found that having the donkey’s out there made every job enjoyable, no matter what it was. I was inspired to do everything to the best of my ability, and it kept me motivated to keep going. I’m going to miss not seeing them every day, but I know it won’t be long until my next visit.

I’d like to thank everyone at the donkey sanctuary for having me out there and teaching me the ropes, it is for sure one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.
